Also known as pinecone tooth, earspoon. Cap color: Light brown to black. Cap Shape: Kidney-shaped and broadly convex. Cap Size: To 1.5″(4cm) Spines: White to fleshy-colored. Stem Color: Brown to black. Stem Texture: Covered with fine hairs. Stem Size: to 4″(10cm) Spore Print: White. Season: August to November Habitat: Grows on conifer cones, but also occasionally needles. Range: North America. Edibility: Unknown, not worth harvesting.
